Privacy Policy

Privacy Summary: Paperbeam does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays 100% on your device.
Paperbeam (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is a private document scanner for iPhone developed by Rakesh Kode. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
1. Information We Collect
None. Paperbeam does not collect, store on external servers, or transmit any personal information. We operate zero cloud servers that receive your data, and the app contains no analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or third-party trackers.
2. How Your Scans Are Handled
- Local Storage: Scans, PDFs, and recognized OCR text are stored only on your iPhone within the app's sandboxed storage.
- On-Device Machine Learning: Edge detection, perspective correction, filter enhancement, and OCR text extraction run 100% locally using Apple's Vision and Core ML frameworks on Apple Silicon Neural Engine.
- No Server Transmission: Images and text are never uploaded to any server or cloud API.
3. Camera and Photo Library Access
- Camera: Used exclusively to capture document pages in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device in RAM and only saved when you explicitly keep the scan.
- Photo Library: If you import existing photos or save scans to Photos, access is strictly limited to the specific items you select.
4. Export and Sharing
When you export a PDF or text file via the iOS Share Sheet, it is sent only to the destination you choose (e.g. AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or iCloud Drive). Paperbeam has no access to what happens with the file after export.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control. Deleting a scan removes it permanently from the app. Deleting the app removes all of its local data from your device.
6. Children’s Privacy
Paperbeam does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.
