Frequently asked questions

How do I set up Brickr?

On first launch: grant Screen Time access, register your unlock key (an NFC tag or a QR code), then pick the apps you want to limit and set a daily minute limit for each.

I don’t have an NFC tag — can I still use it?

Yes. During setup choose Scan QR to use any QR code you have, or Create QR to generate one you can screenshot or print and keep somewhere out of easy reach.

An app got blocked. How do I get back in?

Open Brickr, tap Scan to unbrick, and tap your NFC tag or scan your QR code. Apps unlock for the rest of the day, and limits reset at midnight.

I can’t reach my tag or QR code right now.

The unlock screen has an Emergency unbrick option. Use it sparingly — it’s meant for genuine emergencies, and it counts against your weekly score.

Does Brickr see my data?

No. Everything stays on your device — no account, server, ads, or tracking. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

The block isn’t triggering.

Check that Screen Time access is granted (the Settings tab shows a green dot) and that the app you expect to block has a limit set on the Today tab. Note that blocking only works on a physical iPhone, not the Simulator.
